Top 5 Benefits Of A Superior Online Brand For Your Blog

Why You Want To Build An Online Brand

In my recent reading I have been seeing a lot of information about how to build an online brand.  I however have not yet seen a post on why you should build a great online brand.  Maybe this is because the benefits are so obvious, but it has helped to motivate me after writing down what the benefits actually are for having a great online brand.

Guest Bloggers Provide Free Quality Content To You

I have previously discussed why it is important to continually create unique and valuable content.  If you have a powerful online brand that drives significant traffic to your blog, then you have an army of writers that want to create content for you.  A week does not pass that I do not see blog posts from internet marketers John Chow or Shoemoney that are guest posts.  Often, the best posts that I see put up by John Chow, are written by other people.  For the guest blogger, this gives them extra exposure in addition to a handful of incoming links from a trustworthy source.

Free Stuff!

When ShoeMoney started doing Free-Shirt Fridays, I imagine that he never expected to be sent a Free Custom Poker Table.  I can imagine him sitting at the office one day, when he gets a phone call.  “Hello, Mr. Schoemaker?”…  “When can we deliver your poker table?”…  “I didn’t order a poker table”… ”Don’t worry sir, it is free for you”…  The sheer exposure to a large number of people when you are featured there is staggering.  As more people catch on to the power of a free t-shirt sent to the right person, he will continue to get better and better stuff.

It is certainly not a poker table, but I plan on sending him a package including free board games, t-shirts, and stuffed dragons for his kids.  Yes, Tasty Minstrel Games is getting promotional stuffed dragons made.

An additional advantage of getting free stuff is that you can regift it back to your blog readers.  One thing I plan to implement in the near future for this blog is to have a Free Game Friday.  Any game publisher that sends me 3-4 copies of a game will be promoted on the site with a picture of me and I will give away 2-3 games to the readers.  The benefits are obvious for me and for my blog’s readers, but publisher’s also get additional exposure for their games with a minimal upfront cost.

Powerful Online Brands Drive Incoming Links

A good online brand creates authority.  Good posts from an authoritative source are going to receive incoming links.  Incoming links drive traffic and improve search engine results.  Of course, the combination of the various links improves your brand and authority.  It is a very nice positive reinforcement cycle to get yourself into.

A Great Online Brand Drives Traffic

Of course, the better your brand…  The more traffic you will get, which will in turn improve your brand further.    The final and best benefit of a great online brand is….

MONEY!

Not that I suggest you should be doing all of this for money, but along the way it becomes a factor.  Somewhere a door into the world of making money online is slightly open.  Find that do and get your foot into it.  You will likely have to start very small and build upon small successes and foundations, but eventually with effort you can be making livable money.  Beware; it all starts with a brand, and without care a brand can be destroyed quickly.
