Contradiction! Blogging is definitely one of the easiest and yet hardest things I have done in my lifetime. Why does it live in this status of contradiction?
The Easy Stuff
Blogging is easy because once your blog is setup, all you need to do is load up the admin panel and start typing away. 20 minutes to an hour later, you are done. Spellcheck and hit publish. Your thoughts are instantly displayed for the world to see if they choose to.
With Twitter, Facebook, forums, and email marketing capabilities it is easy to get at least the titles of your posts in front of people’s eyes. After signing up with AWeber for email marketing and placing a signup form on my site I got zero subscribers. Disappointed with this, I decided to give away some board games for free. All of a sudden I had 700+ subscribers. Those subscribers would be getting headlines and excerpts from my blog posts emailed to them twice a month. Instant visibility and an excellent foundation for increasing traffic and developing relationships.
The Difficult Stuff
I have come to realize that as I more consistently create blog posts, the interaction and traffic to the blog increases. However, if I make double the posts, the interaction increases by more than double. Therefore, I have been making blog posts on a more consistent basis. This leads me to the difficult part. It is difficult to be consistently creative. 4 posts per week that I have to figure out what to say. I already feel like I have discussed so much in relation to board game publishing.
I know there is more that people want to know. Answering questions is easy. Theorizing about sales techniques is easy. What do you do when you run out of questions or theories to explore? I propose that you ask you audience for inspiration. So please, email me any particular questions that you have and with your permission I will post the question on my blog and answer it.
The Format
Please send questions to be answered on the blog to michael@michaelmindes.com.
- Subject: Question For Blog Answer
- If desired, I will include your name with an appropriate outgoing link of your choice attached to it. Or I can post the question as anonymous.
Thanks,
Michael
